One of the oldest and most enduring explanations for what causes tooth decay was the tooth worm, first noted by the Sumerians around 5000 BC. They believed that tooth decay was the result of a "tooth worm" making holes in the teeth.

The idea of the tooth worm has been found in the writings of the ancient Greek philosophers and poets. It has also been found in such places as ancient India, Japan, Egypt, and China. This ivory carving depicts the havoc caused by such a voracious tooth worm.

The Company of Wolves is a Fantastic movie which came out in 1984, a gothic fantasy-horror film directed by Neil Jordan, and starring Sarah Patterson and Angela Lansbury. The film is based on the werewolf stories in Angela Carter's short story collection The Bloody Chamber (The Company of Wolves, Wolf-Alice and The Werewolf). Carter herself co-wrote the screenplay with director Neil Jordan, based on her own short stories and also her earlier adaptation of "The Company of Wolves" for radio. Carter's first draft of the screenplay, which contains some differences from the finished film, has been published in her anthology The Curious Room (1996).

b. in Egypt in the 3rd century she died in the year 249. She was tortured having all her teeth knocked out and then was threatened to be burned to death but rather than renounce her faith she jumped in to the fire on her own accord burning to death. St. Augustine adamantly defended as an act of heroic faith and not suicide, which would not be saintly. She is considered the patron of dental diseases and is often invoked by those with toothaches. Ancient art depicts her with a golden tooth at the end of her necklace. Also in art, she is seen with a pincers holding a tooth. Parts of her jaw and many of her teeth are presently housed in churches across Europe.

This Little lady is REAL!!! Promachoteuthis sulcus as she is known comes from the depths of the South Atlantic Ocean... AMAZING CREATURES to discover all the time ! The squid seems to have a set of dentures. The "dentures" are the circular, folded lips, of which only the upper and lower portions can be seen. I am thinking from Medical art to Contemporary to Fairy Tales, movies, photos,poems to Dreams its all for the picking and yanking. I will floss my way through the toothy landscape of the web and see what kind of build up I bring to you. A blog about teeth it makes me laugh and laughing exposes teeth so it's all related. I have a connection to teeth ever since I was a kid I have grown 'em, lost 'em and grew 'em back had them pulled filled ,braced and broken. We all have our stories and memories and dreams that come back to ye olde tooth. Pearly wonders, rotten tragedies they are the bones we expose and show every day to the world they are the base the foundation for expressing joy and anger. Simply I make this blog because I have an attraction toward teeth and felt like making an online collection of things I come across or that are sent to me that tickle my sweet tooth. And on that note here are some images to kick off this blog some of my work which involves teeth... and now off to the dentist to get this dang cavity filled.
